If I Bring My Equipment in for Service, How Long Until I Get It Back?

When you bring in your equipment in for repair or service, our counter staff will let you know the approximate time that your machine will be completed. You can also call us and we can give you an estimated time of completion.

For all machines dropped off to us, we will call you when your equipment completed and ready to be picked up.

For pick-up and deliveries, we do not call you when your machine is done unless you request it. Instead, your machine will be delivered to you as soon as it is completed.

There are many factors that go into the timing of getting a machine back to you. Take into account the following:

*Repair times vary depending on the time of year. Spring (late April to early June) are our most busy times when it is common for us to take in over 40 machines a day. Completion of your equipment may take a few weeks during this time. During slow months like August, you may be able to get your machine the next day (depending on the factors below).

*The availability of parts may play a large role as well. If your equipment needs parts that are backordered or discontinued from the factory, we have to wait longer to get the parts or replacements needed to complete the job.

*Any machine that you purchased from Knight's, will get our "priority" status. This means that our mechanics work on equipment that have been purchased from us first, automatically moving you to the front of the line as opposed to equipment bought at a chain store which may have to wait longer.

*Pick-up/delivery of machines to Woodbridge, Ansonia, Derby, and Bethany are done on Fridays, starting at 9:00am. Orange, Milford, and West Haven are done on Saturdays. The turn around time is usually 1 week. The turn around time may be 2 to 3 weeks during the busy spring season (late April, May, and June). For a more precise answer, ask your driver as to the time when you might get your equipment back or simply give us a call.

When Is a Good Time to Have My Machine Serviced?

There isn't much that's more frustrating than needing to use your outdoor equipment while it's in for service. That's why we say that the best times to have your machines serviced are during the pre-season. This simply means that you should have your machine serviced before you need it.

For example, the best time to have your lawn tractor or walk mower serviced is in February or March. You'll have it back before the grass starts growing and in April or May, when wait times for repairs are generally long.

Does Knight's Work on Equipment Under Warranty?

*If you purchased your equipment from Knight's and it is still under warranty, it will be repaired for free (depending on the warranty coverage of the manufacturer). No paperwork is necessary on your part because all your warranty information is already stored in our database. If you are not sure if your equipment is still under warranty, give us a call and we can look it up for you.

*If you purchased your equipment from somewhere else, give us a call to find out if your warranty is honored at our location. If it is, please bring in a receipt of your purchase which should include the model and serial numbers, the date of purchase, the location of purchase, and price paid.

If My Machine Is in for Repair, Does Knight's Give Out Loaners?

A customer or professional who needs a loaned piece of equipment to use while theirs is being repaired may borrow one if:

*The equipment being repaired was purchased here at Knight's.

*The equipment to be loaned out is available.
